At a glance

5 Key Support at Home changes

You no longer pay package management fees, and a maximum of 10% of your funding towards care management. 

Instead, you will pay a higher hourly rate for each service, with the overall result adding up to more service hours for most participants.

There are now eight Home Care funding levels, which provide up to to $78K each year to help you live independently at home.

You may also receive up to

  • $15k for Assistive Technology
  • $15k for Home Modifications
  • $12k for Restorative Care; and
  • $25k for End of Life supports

Services are now categorised as Clinical, Independence & Daily Living - with different fees for each.

Clinical services are covered in full by your home care funding, but Independence & Daily Living services will require some co-payment, depending on whether you are a full pensioner, part pensioner or self-funded retiree.

Most people will need to pay some of the cost of home care services under Support At Home

The rules are different depending on when you were approved for fuding.

  • Grandfathered participants - if approved for a Home Care Package before 12 September 2024  you won't pay fees under Support At Home if you weren't already, and if you were paying some fees you, you'll be no worse off.
  • Transitional participant - if approved for home care funding after 12 Sept 2024 and before 1 November 2025, you will transition from the old to new system & will pay some fees towards your care.
  • New participants - if approved for home care funding after 1 November 2025, you will be also be required to pay some fees towards your care.

All aged care funding assessments are done by a Single Assessment workforce

Simply register with My Aged Care and apply for an assessment, to begin your home care journey. One consistent assessment team will now assess your needs, including re-evaluating your needs as they change.
